Why Rossdale Farm?

At Rossdale, I grow healthy vegetables using sustainable agricultural practices that conserves water, reduces annual weed pressure, eliminates the need for chemical inputs, and improves soil fertility and health. All of this works together to increase yields and more importantly, build a healthy ecosystem in my garden.

Rossdale Farm is a farm with big goals; to change the way Canadians on the prairies grow vegetables! Whether you call it no till gardening, no work gardening, no dig gardening, weed free and water free gardening, the concept is all the same! I grow food while supporting the gardening ecosystem!

Repetitive tilling breaks down soil aggregates and increases evaporation of the moisture in our soil which in turn increases the amount of water our garden needs.

Healthy soil has strong aggregate formation in it, the clumps and bumps in soil that provide space between them for water and air to exist.

Mulch helps keep the soil cool, blocks weed seeds from germinating, contributes to soil fertility, provides a habitat for predator insects that keep the bad ones in check, and helps hold moisture where we need it most!

My vegetables are nutrient dense, chemical free and can be consistently and sustainably produced here on the Canadian prairies! With lower input costs and drought resistance, my vegetables are highly competitive in the food industry.

I welcome you to explore this website as well as my social media pages to learn more about how no till gardening works!

I am Kim Ross, the fifth generation in my family to grow on the Canadian prairies. I acknowledge the respect and love I have for my land located on Treaty 6 territory, home of the Metis people. It is my goal to be a good steward of this land by using my regenerative growing techniques to improve the quality of the soil and reduce the impacts soil erosion has caused over the course of generations.
